LASER HAIR REMOVAL

THE SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE

Signature Medical Spa employs multiple technologies to permanently reduce and remove body and facial hair quickly and comfortably. We can safely treat multiple skin colorations, from very fair to very dark.

Our newest Triton laser is the most advanced technology offered in Charlottesville!

 

The Triton laser offers three wavelengths to treat all skin types and most hair color with the simultaneous delivery of two of those wavelengths in each session. Therefore, treatments are fast and extremely effective.

Most clients require four to eight treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve 80-90% of the hair permanently gone. Sometimes almost 100% hairless is reached, but we advise clients to recognize that a little bit of the hair may grow back.

​

Touch-up treatments may be needed in the future - people's responses vary widely! We have state of the art laser technology here and superb, experienced providers (each greater than 10 years).

​

NOTE: Please shave 12 to 48 hours prior to your laser hair removal treatment. There is a $15 shaving fee to have this taken care of in-office.

A reminder: we cannot treat skin that is sunburned or peeling.  Tanned skin can sometimes be treated, but the energy of the laser has to be reduced and can lessen results. A good rule of thumb is to allow 4-6 weeks after extended time in the sun (i.e. a beach vacation) before getting laser treatment

PRE-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

SUN​

​​

  • For the safest and most effective results, avoid use of tanning lotion, tanning beds, and sun exposure of the treated areas for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment.  

  • Apply SPF 30 or higher sun block to treatment areas that are exposed to the sun. 

SHAVE​

​​

  • Shave the area to be treated within 12 to 48 hours prior to the treatment. If treating a heavy beard, shave the morning of your appointment. If you are unable to shave the area, we charge a $15 shaving fee.

  • Do not wax, tweeze, or have electrolysis and do not use hair removal lotions or hair bleach for four weeks before treatment.

CLEAN​

​​

  • Remove any makeup, lotions, deodorant /antiperspirant and cleanse and dry area to be treated prior to treatment.

MEDICATIONS​

​​

  • Inform us if you have taken Tetracycline in the past month or if you have taken Accutane in the past year or are planning to begin taking any of these.

  • Discontinue Retinoids, Tretinoin, Renova, Diffrin, glycolic acids, and anything else which can be irritating, for three days before treatment.

  • If you have a history of herpes lesions take an oral anti-viral (Valacyclovir, Aacyclovir) on the day of treatment.

POST-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

SUN​

​​

  • Apply SPF 30 or higher sun block on all treated areas that may be exposed to the sun for a minimum of 30 days.

SHAVE​

​​

  • Shaving or using clippers are the only acceptable methods of hair removal between treatments.

CLEAN​

​​

  • Wash treatment area with a gentle cleanser; use cool or tepid water and pat dry.

  • Apply 1% hydrocortisone cream to treatment area if directed to do so.

MEDICATIONS​

​​

  • Do not use Retin-A or glycolics or other irritants for five days post-treatment.

  • If prescribed, continue use of anti-viral medication.

​Call us 48 hours before your next appointment to cancel if there is no hair re-growth in treated area.​
